Need help with homework or tutoring?

We now offer after-school tutoring for Tribal Members - grades K-12 - in the Education Office at the Administration Building.


We provide a quiet place to study with a full library student computers, and access to printers.

Tribal Parents

Is it a Half Day or Day off from school? The Education Department arranges educational and fun events for tribal students to attend!

Contact us if you want to complete a GED, earn a college degree, or a vocational certification.

Wendy Hartley

Director

Wendy has been involved in school and social services for over 20 years, advocating for students with disabilities, substance abuse issues, and homelessness. She is a school counselor with a Master's Degree in Education.

"I come from the social services field and love to plan and organize things. I enjoy taking others' talents and putting them to use."

In addition to her duties as Director, Wendy will tutor tribal High School students in order to provide support and encouragement.

LeAnne Gillett

Para-Educator

A Washingtonian, LeAnne studied Marine Biology at Texas A&M University and moved back to Washington State after graduation.   She managed the Anatomic Pathology department of Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories (SNBL, USA) for just over 8 years before coming to the Stillaguamish Tribe.  LeAnne has trained, mentored and educated individuals through a variety of learning and teaching techniques and strategies.

Her patience, passion, and compassion for teaching are hallmarks of LeAnne's expertise in education. She takes the time to know each of our students and adjusts her teaching style to their needs.

LeAnne will be working with our students at Presidents Elementary School (K-5).

Cole Appleman

Youth Program Coordinator
Cole takes care of all the behind the scenes details that make our programs run smoothly. He loves to be active with the kids and leads by example. He is our "peace maker" and encourages students to focus on the ties that bind. Cole leads our Arts, Athletics, Academics, and Music (AAAM) Program.

Monica Meadows

Tutor Specialist

Monica is a professional historian and educator with a PhD in Islamic history. She has retooled her teaching skills to focus on K-12 students in order to lead our Tutoring Program. Monica will be tutoring students in the Stanwood-Camano and Arlington school districts both in their classrooms and after school. She is a great addition to our staff!

Alyssa Hanson

Student Mentor

Alyssa graduated from Stanwood High School last year. She is enthusiastic to try new things and excited to build her career in education. She will be working in classrooms with our students at Presidents Elementary.
